Peacemaker Season 2: A Multiversal Riot That Tops Season 1

I’ll admit, at the end of Season 1, I wasn’t entirely sure where this story could go. But I am genuinely impressed—Peacemaker Season 2 turned out to be a lot of fun, and I actually enjoyed it even more than the first season.
The season kicks off with Chris at rock bottom. He’s depressed after being rejected by Emilia and failing to secure a spot in the Justice Gang. His solution? Naturally, it’s to have an orgy. In true James Gunn fashion, this debauchery leads to him stumbling into an alternate dimension where his brother and dad are still alive. The opening shocker—where he gets tackled by his doppelgänger and ends up killing his alternate self—was such a surprising and dark way to start the season.
The Standouts: Economos and Eagly While the plot is wild, the characters steal the show. Economos has been given the task of watching Chris by Rick Flag Sr. (who is now heading ARGUS), and he is hilarious. His self-deprecating humor cracks me up every time. He’s bad at everything physical—whether it’s catching a beer bottle, making small talk, or keeping a secret—but he’s smart as hell and often the one saving the team’s ass.
And then there is Eagly. I knew he was powerful, but I didn't know he was such a badass! Watching Eagly ambush and attack ARGUS intruders with such raw ferocity had me rolling on the floor laughing. (Also, today I learned that "Bird Blindness" is a real thing). Special shoutout to Michael Rooker as "Red St. Wild," the world’s most proficient eagle hunter. His performance was over-the-top and absolutely hilarious.
The Multiverse & The DCU The alternate dimension dynamic was fascinating. Life is perfect for Chris there: he is a beloved, famous superhero, his family is loving, and most importantly, he is in a relationship with Emilia. Seeing Rick Flag Jr. alive (and being a total dork) was a great touch.
However, the reality check comes in the form of Rick Flag Sr. After a brutal interrogation, Chris decides to leave our Earth for good, but Flag Sr. makes a deal with Lex Luthor to track down the portal. We also slowly discover that the "perfect" dimension might not be so perfect after all.
The Verdict I loved the little details this season, from the origin of the interdimensional device to the face-off between Vigilante and his alternate version.
The ending has apparently divided the internet because of the massive cliffhanger and the rumor that this is the final standalone Peacemaker season. Honestly? I’m okay with it. This feels like the connective tissue James Gunn promised. We are seeing a narrative flow across Creature Commandos, Superman, and now Peacemaker Season 2, with Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. holding it all together.
It perfectly sets up the Lanterns series and the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. I am fully on board for where this DCU is headed.
