As someone whose favourite social media platform has long been Reddit, I am annoyed that the app that made my Reddit experience truly enjoyable, Apollo, is shutting down today.
I created my Reddit account a long time ago, but it was Apollo that transformed me into a regular user. The app had a unique appeal, a polished interface, quirky icons, and a set of features that provided a far superior experience compared to the official Reddit app.
In anticipation of Apollo's shutdown, I reluctantly transitioned back to the official Reddit app these past few days. Unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfying. I found the official app's interface to be crowded, making it difficult to navigate and the constant ads and unsolicited subreddit suggestions, starkly contrasting the clean environment I was accustomed to with Apollo.
Saying goodbye to Apollo is no easy task. It was an awesome app. A tool that amplified my Reddit experience and made it truly personal and enjoyable. It leaves a void that will be hard to fill.
